Sources and Attributes of Website Information

The information in the various documents on this website was obtained primarily through research of microfilms produced by the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, Walworth County Historical Society, and other sources, and through research of documents and records available in the East Troy Area Historical Society Museum files, at libraries, and at other places. With a few exceptions, the photographs are from the Society’s collection of donated photographs, negatives, albums, and other images. Because the research is on-going, the information is subject to change.

Most of the information has been recorded on a selective basis and in summary or capsule form, rather than in its entirety. Those wishing to obtain a copy of the source document(s) or original article(s) can consult the microfilms or other indicated sources. A list of the sources is available on the “Research Policies” page of this website.

The microfilms are generally available at the East Troy Lions Public Library and at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin at Madison. Some are also available at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater Library and its Area Research Center. Depending on the policies and practices of your local library, the microfilms may also be available through your library’s reference section. There may be a cost involved in obtaining some microfilms.

Information on the location and availability of other documents and records listed on the “Research Policy” pages of this website is included, to the extent possible, in the descriptions of those sources. There may be other locations where the documents and records are available.
